All the cultures or civilizations past or present that we know of count the days and months in the same way - dividing the year into 12 months or a week into 7 days. Can you tell me any exception to this? And can anyone point me to some web resources which describe the history of adopting this system by the modern civilization?

Im 14 years old and my ex-girlfriend is 13. We broke up a few weeks ago, but we have both vaguely hinted at wanting to get back together at one point or another. The only problem is that to me, you can never know whats going on in a girls head so I dont know if she would say yes. My question is: whats the best way to approach her? Should I just go ahead and ask, or be more careful?

...when I paint my own creation, it never seems to be good enough no matter how long I spend on it. Why does this happen? My paintings have received compliments and offers for purchase, but I always feel as though it's still not "finished". Any way to overcome this?

I live in the deep south. I am 34 wks pregnant and have difficulty walking and keeping my balance particularly on the steps in front of my home.
We have already had some temperatures that have dipped down into the teens this year and I suspect that probably this year we will have another ice storm.
My question is for you that live up north. What is the best things to put on my steps to help secure my hold if we are to have an ice storm this year? Sand, salt? Now I am specifically speaking of ice covering my steps not necessarily snow.
To be honest I have been very concerned about this since I have already been having such problems climbing them.

It makes me so mad because New Orleans is famous and cities in Texas aren't, so they think that the people that had their homes destroyed during hurricane Katrina are more important than Rita. They barley even talked about Rita just because the Dam in New Orleans broke....I had to move away from my home in Texas because it was destroyed in Rita and I am sick and tired of people caring about Kartrina victims more than Rita victms...where is the equality in that?
