I'd like to put together a few calculations to determine "real inflation" over the past 10 years.

When I say "real inflation" i mean what a US family pays for necessities.
These would be:
Food,
Gas,
Heating fuel,
Housing - rent
Housing - home purchase
clothing
Health insurance
Toiletries
Automobiles

Just to do these rough calculations, I'd need figures for the above categories in 1996, 2001 and 2006.
(or if nothing can be found for 2006 then 1995, 2000, 2005)

My premise is that "real inflation" or the actual cost of living for a family far exceeds the figures we hear on the news.

Can you point me to sources for the numbers i need for the above calculations?

I really wish Leona would control her jaw trembling so badly when she sings. I think it looks really ugly and spoils her image. She has a strong voice with a big range, but it is a bit Maria Carey karaoke with the bending down in effort and clawing at the hair as per Christine Aguilera don't you think. I'd rather she won than Ben as I hate his voice. Imagine listening to a whole CD of it!!!

Im 10 weeks 2 days pregnant....When will i feel the first movements? This is my third pregnancy and i cannot recall when i first felt my other two...I believe my first was somewhere around 18 weeks and my second around 16 weeks.
Is it normal to eat all the time lol, my cravings have been extreamly strong and the only thing i feel like doing is eating......Why and how do i control this so im not over gaining?
And what exactly are prenatals and iron for? What is the purpose of these....?
My first two babies i had morning sickness with and they were boys, this one i havent really had any...Think its a girl???? But i hear you have more morning sickness with girls.....Did anyone have next to none and still have a girl? Of course a healthy baby is what i want....So no need to be rude :) Thanks everyone!!!

I am keeping track of fund raising activities at a school and was pondering using Oracle Express to track the donations and where the money goes, who gave etc. I could just use a couple of spreadsheets. But as I haven't set things up yet I was thinking it could be an opportunity to learn some Oracle via their scaled down and free Express version. To create a small (say 5000 records) database with subtotals for people and so on - would Oracle Express be too complex for a beginner? I want to sell books through my business. Most of the books Im referring to are religious and philosophical works that are not even attributed to anyone in particular and are also very old. What would the laws stance be if I wanted to manufacture and sell them? Someone said that I just have to offer my own translation or interpretation for it to be legal. My son is 15 weeks and has a cold for the second time. His symptoms are that he has a little cough and his nose is stuffed up. He is having a hard time breathing and I wanted to know if anyone had any idea if there is a medicine I can give him to clear him up so he can breathe when he eats and sleeps? My brother is in jail now for grand theft exceeding $500. he works for home depot and they called him in on saturday which was his day off to cover for someone else's lunch break. Thing is- the inventory is really low in the section he works in (tool rental) and the store is accusing him of lettin customers walk away with unpaid merchandise. They are assuming that the customer and my brother have an agreement to do this in exchange for money to my brother. They called him into loss prevention and asked him alot of questions about what they though had been going on and called the cops and cuffed him. Can they do this? lets assume my brother did let other people go with unpaid mechandize because he's too lazy to call security or he did call security and people still got away- what's the worse they can do to him in court? i think that the grand theft charge was too big of charge to impose on him since he wasn't the one that stole anything. What do you guys think? the court is -

Ok so we are not all barefoot in chains and worked to death with a whip anymore - We are however all overworked on long hours on low pay and can hardly pay for our daily heat, light and food. The state of the UK jobsmarket and salaries and our having to work till we drop in order to survive on our small pensions is the worst it has been for years.

We are close to becoming the worst paid people in the western world with the lonest hours and terrible employment rights.

I say we need to tackle the subject of modern day slavery by the capilaists that run the UK instead of doing a PR job saying sorry for something we had nothing to do with.
