I have a an great oppotunity! A spot in the garden.

And It has everything going for it, such as very little sunlight, compacted soil, and dogs (some people call them dogs, I call them terriers) that patrol through the area everytime they are outside.

What more could I ask for.

I planted some Lamium 'Pink Pewter' I found at a discount price, simply to experiment on livening up the area.

Where the dogs DON'T pass, the plants really look stunning. Where the dogs do trample, the Lamium looks trampled.

On a personal note I like to give dogs freedom to stretch their legs and be where they like to be.

Thats why I'm trying the Lamium. Maybe my aesthetics and the dog's roaming patterns can both be achieved.

I believe Lamuim spreads by stolons, so I figure, let them trample, as they will only spread the plant.

But, as mentioned, some plants are being destroyed.

Do Lamuim recover quickly? Do other plantings better survive dog such beatings? Would Hellebores do?

Thanks.

The US is addicted to oil. We need to end our dangerous oil dependence on the mideast. What would be the MOST effective in doing this?. Conservation or drilling? Any data?

I'd like to know any suggestions please, on good deeds you can do secretly for Thanksgiving. I don' t mean helping at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen by being seen and heard. Just doing a good deed anonymously. Any suggestion helps.

You know how you see emdroidery on blankets, done by machine? Well, I want to do it by hand. I think it is possible. What would be best to trace my design on the fabric? Transfer paper? Also, is there fabric that I should not embroider on? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

and really i don't know how many years we will be apart, but we want to have a child and this is making us have to wait for that, my question is if we choose to have a baby in mexico will this only add a ton of crazy documents to the already large amount we have to deal with now, and also as i understand the way the INS likes to find ways to add as many years of waiting as they can to make people just give up, will having a baby out of this country really just add more years to our crazy wait? i am really disapointed with immigration so far , they tell us to do things and then take away years of our life span together for doing as they told us to do, and really i just don't want to trust them anymore because they enjoy hurting people, so i am asking anyone out their that could have a heart and tell me the truth about what to do about this, because i really don't want to be pushed to go around the immigration service but its my life im talking about, what would you do?

I have a Halloween party this Saturday and I've finally thought of a decent idea. My friends always say I'm so random, so I thought this would be perfect. I have the local Goodwill at my disposal and that's bascially it (along with everything in my house). Does anyone have any ideas on what to wear, how to do my hair, or makeup? Thanks!

The recent question about whether the weight of humanity affects the Earth, and an old question by someone who thinks if we all jumped up and down at the same time we could move the Earth, shows how people have no idea of the scale of things.

The Earth is 6 x 10^21 tonnes.

For people who are not familair with powers of 10, that number is 6 with 21 zeroes on the end, or 6 billion trillion tonnes.

If the average human is 50 Kg, the weight of the entire human race is 300 billion Kg

Divide by 1000 for tonnes; that is 300 million tonnes.

That is a pittance compared with the Earth.

If you divide the Earth's mass by the People's mass

6 x 10^21 divided by 3 x 10^8

You come out with 2 x 10^13

That is 20 trillion.

The Earth is 20 trillion times the mass of all the people put together.

I hate throwing things out.
If something brakes i'll have a go at fixing it + often succeed.
From dishwashers to mobile phones, socks to coats.
I have alot of things waiting to be fixed.I dont like waste+ tend to save junk which i think i could make use of(maybe 1day).
I realise this is a problem,as i am tripping over bags+boxes of stuff that needs sorting out.I have some things ready for charity+ recycling. But i'd be greatful for any advice.
