I have stayed up until 4 or 5 am practicing, but I also mix it up to promote better retention. I practice the routine for say, 30 minutes, then drill isolations or specific steps for a while before returning to the routine. This allows it to sink into my subconscious and help set into my muscle memory more effectively and helps prevent burnout and lack of focus.

yes i have and almost fell off the stage in the opening night as a result. one should never stay up all night and get some rest before a big performance. it has something to do with focus, orientation and concentration. there is no way to achieve all three without a proper good night's sleep.

All night? no. Late into the night and just getting a couple hours of sleep yes. Especially when my teachers were getting cranky at my imperfections. just think of it as eventually you will have mastered this and it will all be worth it from the praise you get.
