You know how you see emdroidery on blankets, done by machine? Well, I want to do it by hand. I think it is possible. What would be best to trace my design on the fabric? Transfer paper? Also, is there fabric that I should not embroider on? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

When I am hand embroidering onto fabric, I like to use a wash-out fabric marker to outline the design, then stitch over it and rinse out the ink. I would recommend fabric that doesn't show needle marks, such as linen, cotton, etc. - satin shows needlemarks terribly!

Yes, you can. You would probably use a satin stitch.
