My daughter is in 1st grade and doesn't really play with other kids. Kids like her but she ignores most of them. She told me it's because last year kids used to fight over her. They did, in Kindergarten, girls, and sometimes boys, would fight over my daughter, sometimes pulling her back and forth between them. The other day two girls did this and they were pushing each other and fighting over which one of them is my daugther's friend. My daughter got tears in her eyes and just sat down on the ground. I'm not sure why kids are doing this. Any ideas on what I can advise my daugther to do when she gets in that situtaion? She often spends recess alone or will go hang out with the adult playground monitor. That's fine with me if that's what she wants, but I have a feeling she'd love to be playing with the other kids, and I know she wants a best friend, but any time she starts getting close to a kid, there's that same conflict. Thanks in advance for any advice on this subject.
