My husband was talked into a vasectomy by an ex-wife, about 14 years ago and we'd talked about having a reversal done, I'd really love to have his child but it doesn't seem like a goal that is ever within reach. I've been wondering about adopting, and appalled at what I've seen in regards to minority babies being so much less expensive to adopt (I am Native American and would prefer a minority child) - it almost seems prejudiced how it is easier and cheaper to adopt a minority child....but I have started to ponder adopting an older child, as old as 5-7 years, and wondered if anyone has done this or has been adopted at such an age and had any advice? I know it won't be easy no matter what, but I have the time, (2 at-home parents) and money, and lots of love to give..... thanks for any ideas, thoughts or other help.

My BF has a 14 year old dog. He has spent almost 3K to find out that he has an adenocarcinoma of the stomach, in the pylorus. His vet doesn't feel comfortable operating, and has referred him to yet another vet (surgical specialist). He was almost at a point to let go and euthanize, and they hold out a little ray of hope to him. His dog is SUFFERING, bleeding out slowly, weak, and whimpering. I bet if my BF said he didn't have the money, they'd be making other suggestions! It is so hard for me (I am a surgical nurse, and I know this is a big surgery, and I think the tumor is partially blocking the duodenal opening.) to sit by and say nothing, but I have not offered my opinion at all. He has not asked me for one....but this is crazy! Poor dog, I think. But it is his dog, not mine! What do you think?

He is going to call this specialist this morning......and frankly, I hope they say that with that diagnosis, and at his dog's age, it is not a good idea. My poor BF.....

i said that you can't pass your finger through a table or something solid because the atoms are so tight togeter, and that its like when you get two magnets, and try to touch negative with negative, you can't right...and i said its because of physics, and the people who were there said,"no its chemistry" and they started laughing at me, i want to know if its physics or chemistry, i apologize for my ignorance

Have you ever really pissed someone off...and they want some form of an apology.

You then offer an apology, and they go off again.

What is it about people who want you to feel bad about what you have done, want you to apologize, yet they do NOT want to forgive the mistake.

I stayed home from work today with what feels like the beginning of an upper respiratory infection. I used to get them a lot as a child, but then for probably 20 years I almost never got them. Now in the last couple of years, I seem to get two or three every year. I know how to avoid colds....washing my hands a lot, not touching my face, get lots of vitamin C, etc. But is there a way to keep from getting these darned infections?? (By the way....any advice for helping get rid of one besides antibiotics would be great, too!)
