You can appeal directly to the hospital. My mother worked her whole life, and had insurance through her job, but when she had to retire at 62 (long story, but she couldn't keep working) she needed to purchase health insurance on her own. She could not get anyone to sell her insurance! Here's a woman who has contributed to society her whole life, interested in buying private insurance and NOBODY would sell it to her because she had been treated for skin cancer 10 years prior! She needed medical attention and finally had to appeal to the hospital to see if there was anything they could do. They took her Social Security income into account and determined they could treat her under one of their programs for free. I would suggest that as a first step. If they cannot help you, ask them if they are aware of anywhere you could turn-they may know of someplace. Good luck!

You can start with the organization most closely affiliated with your problem. Example: Kidney Foundation, Liver Foundation, etc. Just type in a serach question that goes somehting like this, "Kidney Diease Organzations." I have a failing liver and I was able to find tons of info this way, including monies to fund an opaeration.

Medicaid is an option. If you don't have insurance but you do have a job, you may qualify but have to pay a spenddown. All that means is that for the month that you have the sugery you will have to pay a certain amount to medicaid. After that amount is paid, all your medical bills for the month will be paid by medicaid, including prescriptions. If you schedule your surgery for the beginning of the month, all followup care should be paid for.

Check with the hospital where you plan to have surgery. Most hospitals receive donations to help people without insurance or low income. Hope this helps.

There has to be a public hospital in your area that will not charge you a thing if you can't afford it. So its up to you to check your area for one ............... Also it is very possible to get treated in any hospital as an charity case please look into it...........
