I can understand the logic behind building the fence. It certainly will drastically reduce the influx of illegal immigrants, drug trafficking and prostitution trafficking.
But why did the Senate vote down the Guest Worker Program? I’ve always thought this was one of Bush’s better, more practical concepts. Let them come in as registered ‘guest’ workers, let them work and collect legal taxes on the work they provide.
Can anyone here provide a viable reason why this provision was excluded from the just passed Senate bill?
