Drunk and disorderly doesnt relate to fighting. If this did, you would have been charged with Affray.

The offence the police have dealt with means you were drunk and rowdy, and probably swearing.
If you got a fixed penalty ticket at the police station, pay it on time and the matter will be dealt with and forgotten about.... you wont get a criminal conviction.

You will only end up in court if you fail to pay the fine.
So you can stop worrying and relax.

I understand that if you are CHARGED you will be given a date to attend court to have your case heard.

So did you just get an on the spot fine or something or do you have a court date coming up. If you have a court date then you can defend yourself in court and tell your side of the story.

If you have just received a caution or on the spot fine and disagree with it, consult a solicitor and ask to have the case brought before a magistrate.

So really, it depends WHAT actually happened.

i would have thought that if you've been given a fine then you have already been dealt with and no further action will be taken. i didnt think you could be punished for the same crime twice. if it does go to court and you plead self defence it will depend on how many times you hit him if it is self defence i.e yes malord i continued kicking him when he was on the ground and unconcious. i dont think thats self defence.

If you were publicly drunk that's against the law in most cities.

If you hadn't been drinking maybe you wouldn't be involved in the disorderly conduct.

Just the way the judge may look at it.

Yes because it may be classed as affray or Section 4 of public order act.

If you where drunk and did fight back then you were right to be charged with drunk and disorderly.

STOP DRINKING TOO MUCH AND STAY OUT OF TROUBLE

IMO you're facing 5 to 10 in the slammer. That's if this is your first offense which I doubt.

Violence does have it's consequences.

Hopefully you can learn a trade in prison and return to public life as a better person.

Just state your case, insist on the true story. Usually the truth holds up in court. At least I like to think so.
