I keep seeing questions like "well if you're an atheist, then what's the purpose of life?". Aren't such questions a mirror into the mind of the person asking it? It's almost like they are trying to argue that atheism can't be right because they don't like the implications of what that means to them. Is that what it is?

Does reality have some obligation to placate our fears? If not, is it really better to pick a position simply because it appeals to you, or is it better to try to understand reality as it actually is, independent of the personaql philosophical implications?

I have been in school choirs since the 4th grade. I am a freshman in high school now, and of course I signed up for choir. In the past I have been a Soprano 1, with a range from low F sharp to a high G. Today I went through voice testing, and I had to sing in front of a bunch of upperclassmen. In addition my throat was bothering me. I was placed as an Alto, which is really bothering me because I am much more comfortable with high notes. Tomorrow is my last chance to prove myself a Soprano, and I was wondering if anyone had some advice for me. I need ways to stay calm and focus on keeping the throat open and soft palate lifted.

I couldn't pass it up, it was only $5.99. I know what you're thinking... it looks kinda cheap, which would explain why I was the only one that placed a bid, but even if it is a tad over-priced I'm sure I'll find some use for it.

My Siberian Husky scratches her ears non-stop!! She has done this ever since she was a baby. (She is 5 months now.) The vet said she didn't have any infections or anything...why does she do this? She scrathces until they bleed! (And she doesn't have fleas.)

Is this normal to feel like that at times or is this a sign that I should run? He says that he would not leave. "'I’m stuck in a miserable marriage" is what he says. The hard part for me is that when we are not fighting things are cool. He tells me he loves me and we have good sex. Could he be faking this, or is it just his ego talking when we fight? The hurtful thing is that he seems very convincing when he says he loves me and when he says he does not.

Basically it starts like this, well I have this bestfriend and hes been my good friend for about 9 years and he has been going out with his girlfriend for about 5 years. I am good friends with both of them. I think I his girlfriend is very atttractive. Well I have been going out with her as friends for a long time like to grab something to eat, only as a friend. But my friend recently got locked up. He is going to be in there for about month and a half. Well I am falling for his still girlfriend. It's not like I intend to do so, It's just now we spend alot of time together just hanging out because we are friends, and my friend is locked up. I am really falling for her and it's hard to not think about it. If I could I would let it go right away. What to do?

When you turn on a channel and you don't know what's playing, you can still instantly determine if it's a movie or a TV show. Possible reasons why this is possible could include lighting, camera angle, resolution etc but I haven't been able to put my finger on the exact aspect. Does anybody know how our brains are able to make this distinction?
