The fact that someone has potential doesn't mean that they have to use it all (or we'd have so many doctors running around it would be ridiculous, as many of us had the potential to be what their parents dreamed). Does he want the super-sized stardom? Maybe he's OK with making a good amount of money & being pretty well liked. I know I am -even though my "potential" might be more than I aspire to, I also don't have the accompanying grief & annoyance which often go with fame & fortune.

Potential to do WHAT? do you see him as Othello? an Astronaut? If he had any potential he'd have done something with it by NOW, they guy's in his 50's.
That particular parade has passed him by.
