At work today my boss and I were having a conversation about in laws. She is married.I am divorced. She says that seeing and/or talking to her parents or siblings about once every two weeks is plenty.I can't imagine not talking with my mother or sister at least once a day.I live in a city neighboring my hometown, about 25 miles away, and I only visit about once a month, but I like to hear my mom and sister's voice just to know that they are doing okay. Is this abnormal? Do you have to cut yourself off from your family in order to have a successful relationship? How do you maintain a happy medium? I want to marry again one day and I would like to know how others feel about this. I know that when you commit to someone, you begin a life with them but does that mean that you withdraw from your family and treat them like acquaintances? Is my perspective too clingy or do others share my view of the importance of preserving family connections? Keep it real with me, PLEASE.
