I'm a California native. I lived in Southern California for many years and I don't want to move back there. It's just too big, crowded and expensive. Overall, people are pretty superficial and pretentious in the O.C. It's also difficult to be a black person there. It's hard to be only one to two percent of the population. There is a lot of subtle racism because of it, especially in the job market.
For years, I dreamt of living in the the south with its slower pace. Unfortunately I got my wish, but was hugely disappointed and am moving back to another western state soon.
Eventually, I will probably settle down permanently in Northern California or Seattle, Washington, but I'm not familiar with either area.
I like beautiful green places and open-minded people who are not too radical. The cost of living will also be a factor. I would like to own a small, cozy bungalow in a beautiful, safe neighborhood.
Which place do you think is tops and why?
