I'm looking for some nice hot springs in AZ to take my fiance for our anniversary. I've tried just googling, dexknows, yellow pages, etc, but they just come up with websites that list the long. and lat. of hot springs in the U.S. or books to buy...
I'm trying to find somewhere a little private or the pools are open 24 hours (or close to) and preferably a hotel or motel nearby. We're not big campers. Thanks!

There are not very many hot springs in Arizona compared to some other states and what few there are tend to be undeveloped ones (ie: no facilities, let alone a hotel) consisting of natural pools (often shallow) that require some hiking to reach.

Buckhorn Mineral Wells in Mesa was a historic hot springs and mineral wells that was popular in the 1920 to 1950s and has a number of interesting historic buildings. Over the last couple decades, it has been opened off and on, but I don't know its current status (closed the last time I was there). See links at the bottom.

My favorite hot springs in Arizona is at the Muleshoe Ranch northeast of Wilcox in southeastern Arizona. This is on a pretty nature preserve ran by the Nature Conservancy. The natural hot springs are very nice, although minimally developed (you sit in a couple of large jacuzzi-size metal tanks). There are four rooms and a cabin for rent - all with kitchens (there is no dinningroom or cafe there). You must be spending the night to use the hot springs (no day visitors allowed) and you best have reservations.

There are a number of hot springs in the area around Safford in southeastern Arizona. There is a nice one at Roper Lake State Park (just outside of town) which also has camping and a small B&B type resort called 'Essences of Traquility' which has a number of developed hot springs pools on the property (see link below).

Lastly there is the famous Verde Hot Springs on the side of the Verde River near the mouth of Fossil Creek. There was once a resort here in the 1920s, but now only the cement foundations (and small soaking pool) remain - it is a bit of a rough drive (and short hike) to reach and is popular with nudists.

As a side note, about a hundred years ago, there were a number of large famous hot springs resorts in Arizona including the grand Castle Hot Springs near Wickenburg, Agua Caliente near Gila Bend and Indian Hot Springs near Safford. But Agua Caliente went dry and the other two have long since been closed to the general public.

I live in Arizona and I have never heard of any here. You know except for the mountains we are all desert. Desert Hot Springs near Palm Springs, Ca. is very nice. I have been there. There are several hot springs in the area and it's not to far from Arizona.

There is one Hot springs in Arizona that I know of- it's called "The Arizona Hot Springs".

We recently visited and it was awesome. Great Hiking trail! Give yourself enough time though because it's just that wonderful.

I have listed a web address for you to do some research on it.
