we moved to a small town outside Nashville TN 6 years ago- my 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren and myself. We LOVE it here! The area is just beautiful, there is tons of stuff to do- lots of free stuff, too!- 2 huge lakes for water play, good schools- especially in Williamson and Sumner Counties- we live in Sumner- and it's just a fabulous place for everyone! Home prices aren't too bad, no state taxes, 4 wonderful seasons.... I could go on and on. It's the best place we've ever lived!

I'd say North Carolina. I have been contimplating moving there myself. I'm currently from the east coast, and don't care too much for the harsh winters, but would still like a break from the heat and humidity and North Carolina seems like just the ticket. Also, they seem to be moderately low in population, which could explain the lack of crime in that area.

I am originally from Massachusetts, lived in Kansas for the last 3 1/2 years and just relocated to Texas. My husband and I have 2 children. Kansas is tops on our list for a great place to raise a family. Good schools, great programs, very pro-family!!

No where is really "safe"... but North Carolina is very nice, if you don't mind it being a bit boring, and getting to about 100 degrees in the summer every day. I also really liked rural Connecticut - a bit more exciting and closer to civilization, but far enough away from the expensive homes and the crime.
