I'm moving from Wrigleyville soon. I have only lived in Chicago for a few months, so I only know this area well. I feel safe here but the rent is ridiculously high. The cheaper places I'm looking at are in some areas that look sketchy to me. I found a fairly cheap place in Oak Park, but I don't know anything about that area. Also, how's Humboldt Park? What areas are safest?

Later this week, I'm going to Chicago for a student conference. Does anyone in the area know if there's currently a significant amount of snowfall on the ground? I've looked up the projected weather for when I'm going to be there, and it's not supposed to snow, so I'm wondering whether or not I need to pack snow boots for snow that's already on the ground.

I'm going to be walking around the general vicinity of my hotel for meals everyday, and possibly some longer walks for Sears Tower, etc. Thanks!

I am visiting Chicago in may and would like to go to the zoo (hubby's into baseball and I like animals). We probably won't have time for both zoos. Does anyone have an opinion on which is better- Lincoln Park Zoo or the Brookfield Zoo.

Well my hubbie and I are celebrating V-day and our 1St wedding ann. about the same time and would like to go out to a nice hotel/motel for the weekend. I ask because I'm going to Navy Pier on a trip and I want to go to boystown for my first time, and I'm pretty confident I could get a cab from Navy Pier to Boystown, but I'm afraid once I get to boystown I wont be able to get a cab back to navy pier in time to catch my bus home. We are taking the South shore railroad from south bend, in to chicago, il to go to the shed's aquarium museum and are looking for the fastest route to get there. We have never been on the train or to the aquarium and the railroad website is very vague and confusing to us.
