I grew up in NYC but lived in Chicago for 6 years -loved it. As a rule Chicago winters are a lot colder in terms of absolute temperatures.
The reason being of course that Chicago lacks a relative warm ocean next to it which moderates the temperature. In the oceans place is a very large frozen lake-Michigan.
Snow falls seem to be about the same .
The reason that Chicago is called the Windy City has nothing to do with meteorological conditions. The name was bestowed upon Chicago politicians by NYC newspaper writers who felt that the politicians were a bunch of wind bags-true story
BTW If you need to find a great Italian deli/grocery store D'Andreas on 7055 Cermak &Harlem in Berwyn is great. 708 -484-8121
The small shopping center it is in on the SE cornerof Harlem & Cermak has one highly recognisable feature in it: the stacked cars on a pole from Wayne's World.

Chicago is known as the "Windy City" for a reason. Chicago gets more snow and it is generally colder. But the wind in the winter and the wide open spaces are the major difference.

I even have traveled plenty and nonetheless discover Chicago to be my prominent city. that's a stable occasion of the midwestern united states. it is a normal city to get around in and ideal because it sits on Lake Michigan and the Wacker River that runs via it. Chicago reclaimed lots of its slum neighborhoods close to to the city years in the past and became them into thriving upscale neighborhoods. The organic background Museum, the Museum of technological information and industry and Shedd's Aquarium are extensive and stunning places to bypass to. Chicago is amazingly stable in baseball....there are 2 ballparks. Chicago celebrates St. Patrick's Day by skill of turning the Wacker River emerald green each 12 months, accompanied by skill of an impressive parade. And at Christmas, the city glows. that's the windy city so wintry climate might properly be brutal....gown heat. bypass...bypass to the city....you will ought to head with. cities are high priced....wish the pastime is stable.
