What's the cheapest way to go to from new york to chicago? By plane, bus, train or a car?

This is inconvenient, but to save money, I used to take Amtrak from NYC to the closest airport served by Southwest Airlines, and then fly on Southwest.

Southwest flies out of BWI (Baltimore-Washington) which is not a bad ride on Amtrak. They fly out of Islip where it takes a long time to get on the LIRR (but it's a cheap long inconvenient LIRR ride). They've started flying out of someplace in Connecticut (like, I think it's Hartford?) and maybe that would be the best option.

Or, you can take Amtrak from NY to Chicago.

My husband and I drove from Chicago to NYC...along the way back then (2004) gas wasn't so bad and it was a scenic route...but once we got into NYC it was a nightmare.

Best bet is probably train or bus.

BUT, if you book a ticket on southwest 14 days in advance you can them cheap too.

I drove there years in the past... no longer too undesirable of a experience, you would also be able to snag a weekend particular w/a condo agency. you aren't any further going to wish to stay on the lengthy island area, please on your own safe practices stay in Canada... no funny tale
