I have been going to UIC for about six months now and i used to think that Little Italy was mostly college students but from what i can tell, there aren't that many there. Are there any other areas in chicago that might have a large college student population?

My job just moved to hoffman estates in chicago and Iam trying to find the right kind of a place to live once I move over there. Everybody says stay close to the workplace but Iam a young, single guy and Iam afraid I will get stuck living in the suburbs when the city has so much to offer.

What would a good place either in the city or just outside for me to strike a balance between my commute and personal life ? Also, will I be driving against the traffic if I live between hoffman and the downtown area ?

highway names & #'s confuse the bejeez out of me. like US 41 is called lake shore drive. can u help me name the major highways with there # and maybe the direction they go. Like what is the 290 or the 55. I suck at reading maps. I'm home based in the chicago area if that helps

we dont want it to be too expensive and yet not ghetto. Some where close that way we can get to and from work without alot of traveling. Plus somewhere there are shopping for groceries and everything.

I'm going to chicago by myself for the first time next week and i just wanted to know how safe the place is. I want to basically just check out Columbia College, and the public transportation and such. How do the L trains work? are they like subways but above ground?
