For a couple of early thirty-something ladies looking for somewhere nicely presented, not too dingy, not too chavvy, somewhere that you can dance to all the classic from the 80s and 90s, but listen to up to date stuff too. Avoiding the typical meat market glass on the floor places but not too poncy either.

I want to know about pounds, pence, shillings, and quid. I don't need a lengthy history, just what each is worth!!!

i know that a flat is like an apartment, but when i read books that are set in england it sounds like a flat is more prevalent than a house.
so, here in the states when you settle down to have a family, ideally, you are in a house...but it seems that in england flats are perfectly fine for families...

i hope i'm making my question clear!
if you don't understand, then i'll add more details!
thanks!

This one is for those who are from England. If you could suggest a couple of places to visit in England..where would you direct me. (I'm from Illinois, USA). Where is a fine place off the beaten path..away from all of the other clowny tourists from U.S.?
