I have any bad opinions about them or good ones. I could care less about them, they are just as non-important to me as Ghana, Bolivia, or any country I never think about.

I'm a Scot who spent six months living in England and constantly being called Jock (0 out of 10 for originality). Individually I've never had a problem with the English. Generically, I really can't comment for fear of being branded racist. But I will say that I read Jeremy Paxman's "The English" and found a lot that I agreed with, especially with his comments on national identity - that's it's more a national anti-identity (ie// island-born exclusion mentality resulting in terms such as Krauts, Frogs, Taffs, Jocks, Paddys, etc.). That said, the English did establish the first (and finest) parliamentary democracy - still (for all its faults) probably the best in the world. And for all it's complained about, we still have the best free health care service (established by an Englishman).

Oh damn! I forgot all about Blackadder, Monty Python, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, The Beatles and most of the rest of the music in my collection. Yeah, OK, the English are fine by me. Just don't mention f**tball!

Not much. A nation that is badly educated, overall prejudist and gullible, widely racist, habitually drunk and violent, but has nothing to show for in fine cusine does not impress me. Especially when that same nation is incapable of providing a humane and decent health service, a good education system and a fair society. To make things worse, the culture is tacky, the government is highly incompetent and lies habitually to the people, and the only thing people are really interested in is a number of useless sports, played by brainless people who get paid millions for being fools.

Oh, them... can't say about all of them... every one's different. But I know one in particular that I'm absolutely crazy about.

In general, I have to say that the English have come up with some great comedy, like Monty Python, Blackadder, Little Britain, Smack the Pony, The Office, and numerous sitcoms. So somebody over there has a wicked sense of humor!

I've never had problems with them in the past-- I'm even of English descent. There seem to be a disproportionately large number of rude ones in here-- probably attributable to their age.
