Two years ago, my friend brought 2 small dogs from Japan after living there for 7 years. I think Yozora is correct with the procedure they described. I don't remember the dogs having to endure quarantine, but the my friend had to be very organized and begin the process many months in advance.

Japan IS on the list of countries that qualify for passport-carrying dogs! So that's good!

Your dog MUST have certification to prove that he has been microchipped, then vaccinated against rabies, and THEN blood tested! THEN you have to wait for 6 months before he's allowed into England.

Follow the advice of this website
http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/pets/index.htm
otherwise he'll have to be in quarantine for about 6 months when you arrive in the UK.

Procedures are here

Good luck!

Oh, and you'd have to check the Japanese laws to see if you'd be able to actually bring him back home after your stay!

you need to go to the vet and get something that sort of like a passport. it says his name, vaccination, and needs to be registered. also, you will have to pay a ticket for him too. you can also try calling the airline to see what you need. good luck. ♥
