Hit Glasgow & Edinburgh (the two main cities) Edinburgh is prettier & more "Eurpoean." Glasgow's actually a pretty cool town (I lived there for the better part of a year) and is more representative of real Scotland. Fun place, but don't expect the food to be any good.
I'd suggest going up to the highlands, one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The Isle of Skye is really damn cool -- it's sorta like going to a different PLANET.

I haven't travelled to Scotland, but I use Google.com to find anything I don't know about. I just typed in "good places to see in Scotland," and a ton of pages came up. I clicked on just one:
http://www.thereareplaces.com/Guidebook/pdest/ukscpts.htm
and it has a ton of resources for you. If you don't know how to copy and paste the above link into the address bar, put your cursor over the link and left click and black it. After blackened, with cursor still on it, right click and you'll get a box with some words in it, and you scroll down and click on "copy." Then go to the address bar, blacken it and hit backspace to erase the present address. Then keep your cursor in there. Right click and hit "paste," and the address will appear. You may know how but just in case! Woops, I just checked on preview page and all you have to do is click on the link and it will take you to the page and you can hit "favorite" at top of page and save it if you wish to.

There are several casles in Scotland that you can stay in...I would recommend staying at least one night in one.
You also HAVE to go into the Highlands. Anywhere...don't stay in just the city. Find a bed and breakfast book for Scotland and just make your way around. Stop when you get tired at any b&B that will have you. Beautiful country.

The Iron Bridge, you need to turn and drive along the old road into Scotland, which ran from Carlise to Grenta Green, fantastic piece of iron work, then head to the forth road bridge.
P.S. I'm not a bridge spotter

Go to the Isle of Skye, its got everything that Scotland has all over but is compact with it. Also the Bank of America has now stopped charging its extortionate rates for the bridge so you can now cross for free!

Ayr is nice Robert Burns was born just outside there. And if you head on the coastal road to Stranraer, there is something called the electric brae. It's an optical illusion where it seems like you are rolling up the hill! Just take your car out of gear on that road, leave your handbrake off and you will roll up!!! Also works on balls, round pieces of fruit etc
