Whenever I go there there is an overpowering smell of fish. Come on people of Grimsby...win me over! What else is there? (And I know about the Heritage Centre and McDonalds in Cleethorpes, thanks).

hi, i want to go from london to edinburgh for the weekend starting the 13th october (my birthday). accomodation is fine, it's travel i'm concerned about. what is the best way for me to travel in order to keep costs down but also to allow me to spend as much of the weekend there as possible? i can probably take off half day of friday 13th and all day of monday 16th if necessary but would prefer not to. i've looked into a few things; i notice the megabus overnight on the sunday is very cheap, but is it comfortable?! trains on sunday the 15th take about 7 hours which isn't ideal. any advice?

I need a driver that would stay with us for the whole week (or 10 days if we need more time). I don't think I'll have a problem booking hotels or B&B's; I have some experience with that. What I really need to know is how to research charter coaches and drivers. Is there an equivilent of the Better Business Bureau in the U.K.? Any related info would be appreciated! Include as many details as you like! Thanks.

Leaving from London, cheapish, country side, nice pubs, fishing, walking, nice restaurants and nice people. In October, some live music would be a nice bonus. It could be the Uk, Ireland or somwhere cheap n' continental - tell me your personal favourites!

I will be in Newcastle this week on business, how far is the Jury's Inn from the town centre and what time are the shops open until? The same question goes for the Metro Centre.

The next semester, I will start a Master's course in England. Realistically, how much do I need to live on? I don't have extravagant tastes, but I do want clean, safe housing, and I like going out. I don't usually spend much on clothes.

I'm fed up of reading 'questions' on here from yanks who have visited the UK and not liked it. They all say the same things:

"English people are unfriendly"
"Whats with the warm beer?"
"Why's everything so expensive?"
"I was made to feel like a tourist"

In reality the reason none of you like it is down to one thing. You people all come here expecting everything be exactly the same as at home, just a bit 'quainter'. You don't accept the fact that things are different. You don't prepare yourselves for higher prices and smaller portions. You don't accept that Britain is a modern European nation and most of us aren't here to entertain you but instead we are just trying to get on with our lives. You don't accept that we Brits are a reserved people who keep ourselves to ouselves, and when we don't throw our arms around you and tell you our life story on first meeting, you get offended.

If you want everything to be just like home, try staying at home.
