My brother went to University of Bath so we became well acquainted with this beautiful city.

For a start, you have to visit the Roman Baths. You can get one of those tape recorder thingeys that guide you around.

Next you must have tea in the Pump Room. My daughter and I had a girlie weekend there and that was the highlight for me. Lovely little cakes, sandwiches etc. All very civilised.

Go to The Royal Crescent and visit No. 1, which is a house that has been decorated and furnished exactly as it would have been in the 18th century. Great detail and very interesting.

Go on a guided walk. We did this on one visit and learned a lot.

There's the Assembly Rooms and the costume museum, which is more really for women and I found it fascinating.

Victoria Park (next to the Royal Crescent) is nice for walking and if you're feeling a bit religious check out Bath Abbey.

There are lots of nice restaurants, but as it's a few years since I was in Bath, I can't recommend any in case they've changed hands or closed. However, Sally Lunns is quite good.

There are lots of nice shops and you certainly won't run out of things to do.

Bath is one of my favourite places.

Places to visit:- American Museum (brilliant place have been there 5 times), Pump Rooms and Roman Baths, Costume Museum
The architecture is lovely.

There are LOADS of Independent Shops (especially clothes shops). You'll probably spend all your time in the shops.

Don't forget a boat ride.

A new Spa has recently opened up in Bath - 6 years late, and £30 million over budget. It is very expensive, and fully booked for the next year at least.

The public baths have just opened. Bath Therme, or something. Supposed to be really good to pamper yourself. You can also look around the old baths, but you are not allowed to swim. The open house on the royal circus is nice, and the Jane Austen centre. The abbey looks like any other cathedral. The pump rooms is a really posh place to eat. I don't know too much about restaurants otherwise. Lots of nice pubs: crystal palace, the porter bar (comedy there on sunday nights), the Huntsman is open later than most and has a dance floor on saturday nights...

I once read of a museum in Bath where they exhibit the tiniest little creations [ like fairy on swing etc ] all done by a black artist. You have to use a microscope to see them. That should be a change from everything else you see normally. I am sure someone will be able to tell you exactly where this museum is. Apparently the person who create the fairy's etc found out he had this skill when he was told to stand in the corner by a teacher for being naughty at school one day. He got bored and played around with eyelashes etc. He has excellent eyesight and does the creations with the naked eye. I myself would love to see it.:)

Hi,

I spent my anniversary there and we had a really nice weekend. We walked all over and saw the typical sights The Roman Baths (which was great) we walked to the Crescent etc. But our favorite thing about the weekend was Bath Aqua Glass. It was very interesting to watch the glass blowing and the guys were quite funny, the link for their website is below, have a great weekend!

Visit the baths, they're great but don't expect to be able to have a bath there as there is a two onth waiting list, and it's extortionate. Umm.........play push the coach tourists into the Avon? Other than that the train to London's pretty good.
