I'm fed up of reading 'questions' on here from yanks who have visited the UK and not liked it. They all say the same things:

"English people are unfriendly"
"Whats with the warm beer?"
"Why's everything so expensive?"
"I was made to feel like a tourist"

In reality the reason none of you like it is down to one thing. You people all come here expecting everything be exactly the same as at home, just a bit 'quainter'. You don't accept the fact that things are different. You don't prepare yourselves for higher prices and smaller portions. You don't accept that Britain is a modern European nation and most of us aren't here to entertain you but instead we are just trying to get on with our lives. You don't accept that we Brits are a reserved people who keep ourselves to ouselves, and when we don't throw our arms around you and tell you our life story on first meeting, you get offended.

If you want everything to be just like home, try staying at home.

i had a reserved seat on the train from manchester - reading today. the guard 'forgot' to assign pre-booked seats with tickets. as a result i had to stand in the vestibule with around 20 other people on a train with no air con and next to a foul smelling toilet for 4 hours. i've emailed and tried to call, but virgin do not respond. any suggestions on how to get a refund out of these idiots, and, am i entitled to one?

I recently just returned to Los Angeles from London, England where I found English people to be very un-friendly and at some times just straight out rude. Walking with pride and an attitude of superiority over others specially tourists. I know that big cities around the world have that unfriendlyness character however London shot out loud and it changed my perception of not just Londoners but perhaps all of England. Even in the city of Bath some 100 miles away... did I encounter shoddy attitudes towards visitors? Yes. I felt like I didnt belong there and I was made known by their look towards us "tourists". I watched their shows on BBC 1, 2, 3, ect... and it seems that English people like to Bash on Americans a lot. They think we are ignorant, stupid and lazy. This, ladies and gentlemen is what they think of us. My question is... are all English people snobby and rude?

I bought a ticket to England to see a lady but now she's gone funny on me. I'd still love to see some of England but I'm short on cash. I wouldn't mind doing farm work or odd jobs in exchange for lodging as long as it didn't involve anything illegal. Any ideas?
