to get from blackpool to manchester either driving or by train. im going to blackpool on holiday nxt month and want to go to manchester for the day but just wondering how long it will take. thanks.

It's about 40 miles away and should take you no more than 45 minutes by car. A bit longer by train to allow for stops.
