Do you work with a travel agent? Have you had a good or bad experience with one (please share the details).

What are advantages and disadvatages of hiring a travel agent? Do you feel that anything a travel agent can do, you can do and better online alone?

Have you heard of any nightmare mistakes by doing online travel and basically being "Your own Agent" and therefore responsible for the mistakes?

Curious on stories/experiences members of Yahoo Answers have had in the past, both positive and negative.

I'm doing a travel project on Massachusetts and I need ideas/suggestions for places to go and things to see. They can be big touristy attractions, or smaller things like restaurants or quirky art galleries. I just have to make up an interesting and fun itinerary, and price is not a concern for the project.

I am planning on traveling to maybe India or China in 8 months time.
How boring is it to travel alone?
I am planning on doing it.
what are the pros and cons?
I mean I can see myself getting pretty bored , say after a month, feeling lonely.

Just sale anything worth $. And buy a ticket to anywhere. And what kind of jobs are available for someone who just moved to a new country?

I live in America. I don't speak any other languages. Its probably nicer to actually learn the language of the country, but what if you didnt have time? What if you just made a spur of the moment decision? I know that's how it will be for me. Take about a month to get my finances together and just go!

Also, would it be good to have someone with you? If so, anyone up for it?

A few months ago, "The Travel Channel" featured "The 10 best but least known about Florida vacations". They identified some of the less visited beaches in Florida that offered beachfront camping or rustic cottage rentals. They also recommended a day tour that was popular for close up encounters with dolphins. I think it was in the Fort Myers and Sanibel area, but I'm not completely sure. If anyone is familiar with these type of accomodations and sightseeing events, I am interesting in learning more.

If you are planning on buy your ticket for a Greyhound Bus the day you are leaving, liek right at the bus station, do you have to be there like an extra hour earlier than the bus leaves or like, i dont know how to word it.
but like, if you are buying your ticket the day of your departure, do you have to be at the bus station at a certain time before the departure in order to buy a ticket?

A while ago, my girlfriend was offered a deal on plane tickets. for purchasing $200 dollars worth of cosmetics, we would recieve a couple of free airplane tickets (provide own hotel and travel) to fly to a few select tropical cities. I thought this would be a hoax so we called around and everybody with authority told us the deal was ligit (a way to promote the cosmetic company). So we went ahead and bought the $200 cosmetics. But as we get farther and farther into the deal, we are finding that we have to purchase resorts and such.

I am just wondering if anyone has done this and if it is a SCAM or if it really works out in the end

The corporation is 'Holiday Travel of America'.

My buddy bought me a plane ticket to visit him but it was from the wrong airpoirt. He says priceline can't change it so what to do now? If I complain to them hard enough will they let me change it for a fee?
