I've recently received my IATA card and am trying to make the most of travel agent benefits. Aside from directly calling hotels & attractions..is there a good, free resource online to find specific discounts and comps?

I'm going from the west coast to the east cost and I have only 1 stop, to get to my destination. My question is, I'm flying NWA for 1/2 of the flight, then on AA 1/2 of the flight... so at my layover, will I have to get my baggage and recheck it, since it's a different airline? Or will they just transfer it for me? I'm asking because I have a very short layover and I'm afraid that if I have to get my luggage and recheck (especially at LAX) then I won't have any time to catch my flight. Thanks, in advance :o)

Ocean Blue does their marketing through TRVL, Inc. The company claims to save frequent vacationers a lot of money by taking out the 'middle man' when making travel arrangements and making you your own travel agent (for an up-front price). Does anyone have experience with them? Your answer is very much appreciated... :)

We just got a passport for our 1 year old. It explicity states that he/she must sign the passport before it is valid and can be accepted by a customs official. I mean - come on - how can a one year old sign a passport? Suggestions?

If boyfriend and girlfriend together purchase airline tickets together under one reservation code to go abroad via a travel agent and girlfriend wants to cancel the flight, does the reservation stay the same for the boyfriend? In my scenario, boyfriend wants to continue with the travel plan, but girlfriend doesn't.

I'm curious on how people feel about this subject.

In the past it has been where several people could get last minute deals. This is somewhat the case still, except the airlines did this and to many people waited last minute thus one of the reasons most domestic carriers are in bankruptcy status.

I for one am all for the people that plan in advance getting the better prices and fortunately the travel industry is changing towards this. It is all in about re-training travelers to not wait last min. It will take some time, but eventually travelers will understand the changes.

I often get asked, wouldn't they want to at least "fill the empty seats to get something". In the past, yes they did thats why they had the last min deals, but again it got the airlines in major financial trouble! They were/are actually losing money doing it this way.

Look forward to reading everyones thoughts/opinions on this!
