For me I've always had a thing about Rome, though I've never been. And I used to love New Orleans, pity that it's so different now.

Romance is in the attutude of the people trying to experience it. You can make a canal bank in yorkshire romantic with a small fold away table and chairs and chopped fruit for breakfast if you are prepared to make the effort.
I loved Barcelona but I went there alone and on a budget and had a great time, I also loved london, but it is so expensive unless you like parks and people watching, which I do.

its not Rome, Venice, Buda, Prague,or Niagra falls/ NYC its got to be Paris especially the Sacre Coeur area around Autumn when the coloured fallen leaves litter the winding cobbled stone passages and you look down over the city and again around Tower Eiffel and the Seine its just beautiful but i always have a foreboding of the Nazis stamping down Champs Elysees in the 40s and a romantic song at that time "the last time i saw Paris" you get a little lump in your throat its a mind boggling city which the Germans agreed they wouldn't destroy and kept to their word

I think a lot of people would say Paris due to the architecture, lights, and gorgeous scenery. Really, anyplace can be romantic with the right person.

I would say London, although most will probably say paris as it is portrayed that way by all the movies, while in reality it is a dirty, smelly, and unfriendly city.

London might meet the dirty and smelly part, but it is rich with history and gorgeous locations, and the people are generally friendly, if not a bit snobby. There are theaters abound where you can take your loved one and spend a romanitc evening... old quaint diners and museums and so much to see and do.

I'd love to live in London if I could afford it.
