I have tried for ages, to find a direct flight, from either, Frankfurt, Cologne, Dusselldorf or Dortmund, which will take me directly to Newcastle Upon Tyne. I usually have to stop in London and wait several hours for a connecting flight. This is not only time consuming, but also mentally exhausting. Any ideas? Thanks.

They're spelled just a bit differently, but I have found seperate maps of them and they seem to be at different locations, but both appeared near Berlin.

I've learned to speak German and am considering taking a trip to Germany. Where can I go to (a) find people who are friendly to an American, (b) not have to deal with an accent drastically different from the neutral one I learned in school, and (c)be around clubs, good restaurants, and good hotels?

I just alluded to this in an answer and decided it is "höchste Eisenbahn" (high time) to pose it as a question. Of course mealymouthed liberals have no monopoly on Germany and are unfortunately found in many other countries as well, but having been here in Germany over 22 straight years, I have a seen a definite change for the WORSE. Liberals pop up like running sores all too often now, whining and blathering with no facts to back them up. ..very irritating and sickening. Then try to talk intelligently with one of them, present bogus information all too often derived from liberal news media (among the worst in the world), and then fawn over misfits like Bill Clinton and Gerhard Schröder, neither of whom I would follow even to a bathroom. It used to be many of these same Germans were grateful to the same USA who allowed them to prosper and become a peaceful, protected and free nation. My good German friends notwithstanding, now I am ashamed to hear how ignorant many have become.

What is it like to live in Dortmund, Germany? What are some of its characteristics? For example, I read about how wild Berlin is, how fancy Munich is, and how backwards Bonn still is...don't know if those are true or not, but I am curious about Dortmund too.

For example, I know that Germans don't yell when they're angry; they lower their voices instead. Also, Germans typically are more straightforward and less likely to give praise than North Americans. What are some other unique customs like that? Also, Germans in general can't really be so humorless as the stereotype suggests, right?

Danke!

Why is Bonn good or bad to live in? I heard that even though it was the capital of West Germany, it is one of the worst cities in Germany. Aren't the cities in what used to be West Germany usually better--as in standard of living, less violence, etc?
