Berlin is relatively a safe city. The major problem for tourists could be pick-pocketing and theft of mobile phones.

In faraway suburbs, non-White people might feel intimidated, but the fact is, that most people - also in these places - will be friendly. Do not believe the propaganda about the hoards of Neo-Nazis in Berlin and the area - I live here for years, and the only times I saw them (except for on TV) was either on one of their stupid parades (participating in the demonstration against them...) or ONE TIME, in all of the times that I've been here, I've seen one in the street, by the way, not in one of those East Berlin neighbourhoods, but actually in Kreuzberg.

Naturally, one should apply some common sense:
- do not walk alone in parks at night (especially women)
- keep away from places that look dodgy to you

Same as in most German cities: LIBERALS. They are MAJOR annoyances anywhere, but have morphed for the worse under the influence of perennial losers like Gerhard Schröder and, steeped in ignorance despite a relatively good educational system(?), continue to get their information apparently from TV sound bites and Bild Zeitung. I have been here since 1983 and it is pathetic how they have dumbed down, just like so many in my home country I'm afraid. Very naive people for the most part...
