I read that the addresses in Mannheim are organized much differently than those in other parts of Germany. If so, how does the address system of Mannheim work?

Mannheim is organized in squares. That means that some addresses are like this:

Rathaus E 5 68159 Mannheim (town hall)

Go to the website www.mannheim.de and go to Stadtplan (city map) and you will see.
Native German.

All addresses in Germany are written the same way; person's name, street name, house number, postal code, city.

Mailing within Germany, you don't need to put in Germany. Always make sure you use the European 7 (which is a 7 with a line through the middle). It is very important you use the postal code because the name of the town can be in the same state/country more than once. If you send a letter out before 11am in will be there the next day, no matter where in Germany. North American postal services should take lessons!!

If your connected directly to your modem, you should release and renew your IP address. It may be someone on your local segment that is trying to hijack your IP address. Basically, if you surf the Internet, your ISP knows it's you by your IP address because their server assigns it and logs it to your modem. If your computer is shut down, someone can put your IP address in their computer and the ISP thinks it's you. This only works if your on the same segment, but it does work.
