Does anyone have much experience with teaching ESL in Turkey? I am thinking about traveling there to teach next year after I graduate. I would love to hear about the experiences of others. What type of reactions will people have to two young American (Biracial) girls teaching there (My sister is planning to come too). Is there anything we should avoid doing while we are there?

Before arriving do I need: A sponsor or employer? A medical certificate or health check clearance? A permanent place to stay, ie name on a lease? Money in the bank? Or can I just rock up apply for a work visa over there and start working? Do I need to have residency?

One of my family members is trying to find their relatives in Turkey, who have the surname Zerzavatci, but is finding it nearly impossible. I was wondering if the name Zerzavatci is extremly uncommon, especially in the UK? Have you ever known anybody with that name?

I've asked this question before, but in a different category.
