Where are you flying from and to? I suggest you look at the airport website (if travelling from the UK) or check with the airline, or ask your travel agent, or telephone check-in if flying out of Turkey (assuming your Turkish is competent). From the various answers given already, it is obvious that there is a lot of confusion.
I'm sorry that I can't directly answer your question. My best guess is that rules will be adhered to more rigidly outward from the UK rather than inward from Turkey. I believe that at the very least you can purchase drinks airside, prior to boarding your flight. There will also be drinks available on the plane, of course.
Now that the weather is cool, does it matter? You're not exactly going to dehydrate on a 3.5 hour flight! If coming to Turkey on holiday, bring your thermals, it's got very nippy this week!!

You can certainly take a drink in your hand luggage, providing it was purchased AFTER the security check, ie., in the Duty Free area. I came through Heathrow 2 weeks ago and they were confiscating everything at security that was even remotely liquid, even mascara. So, no probs, but must be purchased in Duty Free, ie., the store that sells books, mags, sandwiches, drinks, etc.

Drum roll please.
The correct answer is: When traveling from or within the US, you may not pack ANY liquid over 3 ounces in your carry-on bag or have ANY liquid over 3oz in your posession through security. However, AFTER security, you may purchase a beverage and bring it on the plane with you.
You don't say what country you would be flying from or to, so your best bet is to check the travel regulation website for your country. Here in the US, it's the TSA site that I will link to below.

No not when departing from the uk, i just flew back from the uk to dublin and we weren't allowed any liquids at all, they also took my lighter off me and lucky enough i'd no cosmetics in my hand luggage because they were taking them off people too. you can however purchase liquids once your through the security checks.

After passport control in Duty free areas I believe it's ok to do so now. Check with ground staff to confirm. By the way...what does this have to do with Turkey??!!
