I live in Fort Lauderdale and am looking for any suggestions on where to go in the caribbean for memorial day (May 25-28) for 2 girls in their early 20's. The trip can only be 2-3 nights and it has to be those exact days. Looking to spend no more than $400 a person, and suggestions other than the Bahamas are preferred. Thanks a bunch!

For the summer holidays we where thinking of going to the carribean but when we look up holidays on the internet they are either rip off prices of cheap resorty hotels. I don't want to go to a resort. I want to go to a quiet and tranquil part of the carribean cheaply. Any suggestions of where to go or what websites to look at?

My mother and brother both want a relaxing island (which would be anywhere, really),
my dad would like history and historical sights,
and I would like real culture (not just tourist attractions).
We'd all also like places with wildlife (we'd like to go to one of those places where you can play with the dolphins or feed the stingrays...)

Sorry if this is all very specific...
Anyone have any ideas?

THANKS!!!

Hi - I am thinking of going to one of these islands for a long weekend getaway ( 3 or 4 days) with a couple of friends from work. I know these are great "romantic" islands for couples to visit, but how is the single/tourist scene? What is the nightlife like and which island would you recommend for a few single girls in our twenties looking to have a bit of safe, clean fun?

I love St John and St Thomas, but they are very pricey. Anyone ever rented a condo and have a good experience with a particular complex?

I can't stand the Grand Bahama Island... I can't handle paying 10.00 for a crappy sandwich, and yucky grocery markets.

Basically I want some opinions on where I can go that has a lot of the conveniences of home (Nice grocery stores, good restaurants, cleanliness?) It needs to be livable, somewhere I could go for several months and not miss home! With beautiful/clean beaches and warm water.

I have never been to Hawaii or Maui, any opinions on them?

Also it'd be nice if I didn't have to worry TOO much about a hurricane destroying the place every year. =D

Thanks!

The ports are, St. George Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia, Dominica and St. Kitts. I have my advanced PADI card and have been diving recently. If anyone has gone diving on these islands I would love some advice!

I was wandering, has anyone here been on holidays or travelled to the West Indies (including Guyana and Isla Margarita, which are geographically located in South America, but is a part of the West Indies)?

Which islands/countries in the West Indies are the best or would u recommend to go to? Whats the climate/temperature like there? When is the best time of the year to go? Is it expensive there (I come from Australia, just so u have an idea of like costs, currency conversion etc.)? And what about safety?

On a Carnival Cruise, you have what's called Shore Excursions: things you coordinate from the Boat to do while on shore...so with that said: This is my second cruise, and on my first I went to Key West Fl, and Nassau Bahamas. @ Key West, we just got off the boat and got wasted, there were tons of bars and things to see, had a freaking blast, didn't do any excursions. At Nassau, we thought the same would be the case, but there wasn't as much "fun" at that port, an excursion would've been more ideal. So there lies my question, out of Montego Bay, Grand Cayman Islands, and Cozumel...do these destinations offer enough to do, or are they boring and I should book an excursion. I've heard Cozumel is kickass, so I guess I'm really asking about the first two.

Also I know that people say Nassau rocks, it was just where the boat ports...so if you've been on this particular cruise before...please respond! CHEERS!

I am looking for some recommendations on places to vacation in the Caribbean. I know there are a ton of islands to choose from but I would like some recommendations from people that have been there. I am looking for the following:

1. Nice beaches that aren't too crowded (will be going in June of this year)

2. A place that offers other activities besides hanging out at the beach. (i.e. hiking, biking, cultural activities)

3. Something that is geared more towards couples.

I have looked at Aruba, St. Lucia and Barbados. Aruba seems a little too 'resort' oriented but the beaches look really nice along with the turquoise water. I am also pondering Belize and wonder if anyone has been there. If you have any hotel recommendations that would be appreciated too. I am thinking about All-Inclusive but have heard some bad things about that. I like the fact that the drinks are included but I don't like the fact that we would be limited to eating at specific places.

Thanks!

My husband and I would like to take a trip down south to the Caribbean somewhere in January of 2008. We do not want to go to Mexico. We are thinking Cuba or the Dominican Republic. We do not have too much money to spend. Maybe like 2000 @ the most. Can anyone recommend anywhere? I would like it to be all-inclusive as well.

I am undecided whether I should go to Puerto Cana or Puerto Plata for vacation. My friends and I are planning to head to DR in July for some craziness and R&R. The all-inclusive resorts sound tempting but we will most likely rent out a condo or house so we can do whateva we want; plus the prices seem reasonable.
Anyways, what would be the ideal location to party in Dominican Republic yet still have access to the beaches? Your insight is highly recommended.
