I have dual citizenship, so that's not an issue. I'd like to work in something film/media/technology related. I'd prefer to live without a car. I'm young and I'm poor and I'm gay. Considering all of this, which city would you recommend over the other, or at least what would be the pros and cons? I've spent several months in SF vs just a few days in Vancouver, so please be more detailed about the latter. I loved both. Right now SF is winning just because I have friends there and potential jobs. How easy would it be to move to Vancouver knowing no one? Thanks!

I'm looking for an interesting place in Vancouver, Canada to hold a small conference for designers. Can you suggest any interesting small hotels, unique museums, interesting local spots that have meeting spaces for rent? Or maybe a local university building, cultural center, or something like that?

To be clear, I'm not looking for suggestions of places for tourists to visit; I'm looking for facilities to rent.

Ok well this weekend I went on my very fist backpacking trip! It was great! Went to a little lake called Greendrop Lake in chilliwack. The lake was pretty and we had it all to ourselves.
The hike was murder on the way back though. We had to cross what seemed like a million boulder fields, lost the path a few times, I tell ya the car never looked so good.
This weekend we were going to go do the lightening lakes and the three brother trails up in Manning Park, but as there is a fire breaching the park I don't think we are going to go there.
The second place we are thinking of is Squamish. (sea to ski highway.) Have any of you been up that way to go campping or hiking? Any place you could recomend?? Let me know.
Hopefully where ever we go, we don't run into any bears. (Just picked up bear spray.)

So this is a personal move, Toronto to BC and I need some assurance in case of breakdown since the truck is used, under 10 years old. It's a 14 or 16 foot diesel cube van and isn't covered by the RV outfits, my auto insurance, CAA, or crap tire. If I could I also might buy extended coverage for a mechanical failure, along with the tow I'd need in the middle of Saskatchewan or wherever. I'd really appreciate anyone's input and experience in this area as we sure can't afford ten grand plus to hire movers and we've already done all the packing ourselves. Probably will sell the truck out there when done. Thanks, Guy.

I am flying to Canada in Oct 2006 and was wondering if I need a passport as a US citizen. I know the laws are changing and there seems to be a lot of confusion as to the difference between driving and flying. I don't have a passport and would prefer to not have to get one if possible, as I will only be there 3 days. I also have a military i.d. if this is at all helpful. Thank you for your time.
