I would also recommend Gastown (which has a good vintage clothing store and a steam-powered clock) and Granville Island. You can take a boat back to the city centre from Granville Island. If you like pro sports Vancouver has a few teams though I don't know anything about the seasons. The public library is a very interesting building, inspired by the coliseum, and my favourite place to eat is Helen's Grill at 4102 Main St, a 1950s diner with jukebox consoles at every table. Nearby are a lot of antique shops. You can also go a bit outside the city and walk across Capilano suspension bridge (like the one in Indiana Jones) for a bit of excitement. There is a fun science museum in the geodesic dome left over from Expo 86.

Granville Island is a MUST! They have a Comedy Sports (Improv Theatre) company there that rocks.

Several years ago, 4th Avenue had some unique shops... but that might be outdated information.

If you love nature, you have to check out Stanley Park. Bike, walk, roller blade... amazing views.

For something completely off the beaten path, if you are a music lover, "The Jazz Cellar" is a great evening.

Granville Island for great markets, food and beer.
Grouse Mountain for some great views.
Salmon House on the Hill for seafood and breathtaking views.
English Bay, Chinatown, Robson Street and Gastown for shopping.
Don't miss Stanley Park. Wear comfy shoes for walking the Seawall.
Best time of year is right now for weather.
Enjoy. I grew up there.

vancouver canada or washington? im sure you know what is legal or at least not enforced in canada, and the drinking age is lower too. I guess there are some neat buildings and museums to look at too.
