There are a lot of meat processing plants all across Canada. Your best bet is to come visit a few cities, and talk to the managers of these plants to find out what you need to start up. I know the 3 here in the Calgary area are always looking for workers.

Well, if you are a qualified butcher you can probably make a decent living in any of the rural farming and hunting communities (which is just about anywhere) Canadians are big on hunting and most people I know also raise thier own livestock for butchering too. Most people use a butchers services nearly year round and there are lots of small business opportunities in the area. It would be best if you did some research about where you want to move and the economy in that area etc, the Government website has excellent information on every aspect of life in Canada and what it takes to move here and start a new life...

I wish you all the best of luck in moving to Canada... we have many German ancestors and where I live was and still is a partially German community, along with, French, Native, Polish, Irish, Scottish, English...etc etc... there are no communities that do not have members from every culture all over the world. I know you would like it here alot! many people are of german descent in Canada, and german culture is part of Canadas culture along with many others. We are built on every culture in the world, I think thats why we all get along so well!!

You have to major options when it comes to moving to Canada - you can either find a job, get that employer to sponsor you, and get a temporary worker visa. Once in Canada, you can then apply for your Permanent Residence through a Skilled Worker Visa. The other option, especially if you can't find a job from afar, is to apply for your Skilled Worker Visa, get accepted, move to Canada and find work.

I don't know about the employment side of things, but Citizenship and Immigration Canada's website will give you all the information you need about the legalities of moving.

100 Mile House / Lac La Hache, British Columbia - There are quite a few German people living around the area. The scenery is breath taking!!! If you can butcher wild game, you can probably have a small business here too! It's great for all seasons - Winter: ski,ice fish,skidoo Summer: fish, waterski, hike - There is so much to do and great outdoors to do it in. - Come on up and visit, you'll be glad you did!

You'll need to make up your mind... Canada or Australia! check out the town of Winkler in Manitoba. They have abattoirs (they make great sausage, too) as well as a vibrant German community, so you can have the best of both worlds.
Steinbach Manitoba also has a lot of Germans settling in the last few years. There is a lot of farming in the area, and I think there are abattoir in near-by villages.
Brandon Manitoba has the Maple Leaf Pork Processing plant.

Hey, as for employment, I'm not sure about meat shops or anything but I hear Alberta is screaming for people in all areas and pay is going up (I was told that the Tim Horton's (coffee shop) in Fort McMurray is paying 18 dollars to start). As far as beautiful places to live, I would suggest British Columbia. I took down your e-mail and will see what I can find to send you.

I know a lot of Towns in Manitoba are helping people emigrate and helping them find jobs etc. If you go on the province of Manitoba's website there may be information on there or type in emigrating to Canada or to Manitoba! It's a great place to live!

Take the Advice of a Wiener Boy - stay away from Manitoba - they have the woest Winters and no Trees or any kind of scenery.
