Where's a good place to hold a small conference for designers in Vancouver, BC?

I'm looking for an interesting place in Vancouver, Canada to hold a small conference for designers. Can you suggest any interesting small hotels, unique museums, interesting local spots that have meeting spaces for rent? Or maybe a local university building, cultural center, or something like that?

To be clear, I'm not looking for suggestions of places for tourists to visit; I'm looking for facilities to rent.

The Vancouver Art Gallery is available to rent for functions. It is right downtown and is a lovely building. Number one on my favourite places to gather.
