You will need to have a work visa in order to work in Canada. Most visitor visa's have a "no work" clause on them.
When you are questioned by imigration, you will be asked how long you are staying and for what purpose you are coming. Better be prepared with the proper documents if you want to stay.

Can you legally work in Canada or are you just coming on a visitor's visa? If you are just a visitor, it is doubtful that anyone will hire you. If you are a student and on a student visa, you can legally work (part-time), and the college or university may be able to assist you to find a job. If you are coming to Canada as a landed immigrant - legally able to work - you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a job, especially at this time of year (peak hiring season).

Hi There
I live in Toronto right now but if you're looking for work, Alberta is the place to be. I'm originally from Calgary but have lived in Edmonton (Alberta) as well. The Province is absolutely booming right now and there is a real shortage of workers. Calgary or Edmonton are great places. If you can work construction, plenty of jobs. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty (and can survive the cold) there is also a lot of opportunity in the Oil Patch. All Oil companies are looking for rig workers. Dirty job but it pays a lot of money. Alberta/British Columbia also have a lot of Australians who work in the mountains (ie. Banff, Jasper, Whistler) year round. Ski resorts are popular for hiring out of country employment seekers and you can pretty much work there year round (winter: Ski Resorts. Summer: Whitewater rafting, tour guides etc....). I would say Alberta would be your best bet as there is a lot of opportunity. I hope this helps.

you will need a work visa. Head to Whistler Blackcomb, there are tons of jobs working on the mountain. Also there are lots of workers needed in construction. I don't think you will have a hard time finding work once you are here.

Basically, you need a job or the prospect of one in order to emmigrate to Canada. Reduced to its basics, Canada wants people who will quickly make an economic contribution.

without a work visa, you will have to work under the table....for cash.....lots of Help Wanted signs all over Vancouver, but Alberta has the biggest need of workers.

You can't just go to any random country and start working. You need to apply for a work permit, which you probably won't be given.
