I'm considering a trip to Toronto, Ontario. That's in Canada. I'm a US citizen. It's my understanding that as of January 2007, a passport will be required to reenter the US from Canada, where all that was required before was an original birth certificate and photo ID. Anyhow, being that my only travel abroad to date has been with the US military, I have no idea how to get a passport. So how's it done, what do I have to furnish, who do I have to bribe, etc.?

Some friends and I are planning a motorcycle tour around ALL the Great Lakes (~2,800 miles). The loop will be relatively close to the lakes but not always right at the water's edge. What are must sees in Canada close to the lakes? Thanks.

I live in Canada, and I want to know why Americans don't know much about their closest neighbour. I have seen people with skis on their cars come to southern Ontario in July. They don't think it snows here all year round do they? I can kind of understand people in the southern states not knowing much, but border states are sometimes the same. How come?

What is the situation with crimanal records and moving to canada? some sites say it a no no and others say that each circumstance is considered differently. My partner got in trouble and went to prison once when he was 19 and again when he was 20. He is now 32 and has not been in trouble since. each prison sentence was short. nothing to serious. How does it work it is a big fat no or is it there a chance it will be ok. We are not looking to get the wheels in motion for about another 2 years. Also he was offerd the chance of working in canada. again will this prevent him from doing it.

Under Canadian law, what is the maximum penalty for being present during a sale of heroin and convicted of conspiring in the crime? Convicted in Germany over 14 years ago and sentenced to two years in prison, I don't see any way my fiance will ever get a visa to the United States, even though I'm a US citizen. We are hoping to have him deemed rehabilitated in order to have a wedding reception in Canada so that my North American friends and relatives can easily attend.

I visited canada in feb of 2006. After a long flight from the uk iwas looking forward to getting a cab and crashin out at the place i was stayin but no i got pulled by immigration. Eventually after a severe grilling i was eventually alowed to stay but i was given a form that i had to hand back when i returned to go home.

I am not sure if this had something to do with fact that i only had my outward ticket as i had an e ticket so i could not get my return ticket until day of return. The immigration officer did say how could she be sure that i was going to leave when i stated i was.

Anyhow after returning i am planning to return to canada for another visit i dont want to have to go through that experience again. I noticed they put a stamp in my passport and am wondering if this might tell them that i got pulled and to check me again or am i just bein paranoid. Is there anyway i can find out if i will have a trouble free entrance next time or is it just get there and hope n pray.
