We went there for New Years and had a great time, but the town was DEAD. I think it might be a tourist town. We couldn't figure out why everything was closed! It seemed like such a cool town, but there was nothing to do!! Is it always like that?

Looking for a cabin on a lake that allows motorboats (at least 50hp, outboard) and dogs. We are willing to drive 8-900 miles to get there from the Chicagoland area. There are three of us and our 2 dogs.

Anyone know of any lake resorts that allow boats and dogs? I have searched the net, but in the past I've found that the ones that do the least advertising are usually the best.

I'm also a little worried about wildlife and my dogs....any suggestions or experiences? (We're not hunters and really have no experience with northern wildlife).

Can you take your dogs over the border? Any paperwork required? I've never been to Canada.

Thanks.
