That's a pretty vague question. Here are some basic facts:

Canada was first discovered "officially" in 1534 when Jacques Cartier landed in Gaspésie.
The first city to be founded was Quebec City, in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain.
Canada was originally settled by both the British and the French. The French lost the war in Quebec City in 1760, and so the British then owned all the land. However, since the French settlers were still more numerous than the English settlers, and the English feared a revolution, the French were allowed to keep their language and their religion (Catholicism).
Canada stopped being a British colony and became a country in its own right in 1867, although the British Queen still has her face on our money and stamps.
