I'm American. I come from the American Yahoo Answers, but I came here to ask you this question because when I went to Vancouver in the Summer (which is a gorgeous place), that alot of the Canadians there didn't like it when they got compared with Americans. I never compared them, but I have asked this to my Canadian friends and they said that Canada doesn't like being compared to US? Is this true?

~I don't mean to be rude by asking this question. If I am, then sorry :)

We live in Edmonton Alberta right now, and since homes here are way tooo high we are thinking of moving to Ontario, preferably Kingston or London.

In two week me and 5 of my friends are venturing from New York to Mt. Tremblant, Quebec for some skiing. I've never been to Canada and all i want to know is if they are strict at the border and if they do a full out search on the vehicles, people, luggage, etc. I know they are probably strict comming into the US but I'm not worried about that, just crossing into Canada is my main concern for certain unspecified reasons.

or is it a least cheaper then the US, for US citizens? I know it's a silly Question but I figured since health care is free to Canadians then maybe it's really cheap for outsiders. I live in the US right on the border and my doctor wants me to get an MRI, but my deductable is $1000 and I don't have that much.

How do traveller's cheques work? Can I give them as a present or does the recipient need to sign? I want to give my brother some travellers cheques as a Christmas present for a trip he's taking in January but I just talked to my dad and he thinks the recipient has to sign for them at the bank. Is that the case?
