Looking for a cabin on a lake that allows motorboats (at least 50hp, outboard) and dogs. We are willing to drive 8-900 miles to get there from the Chicagoland area. There are three of us and our 2 dogs.

Anyone know of any lake resorts that allow boats and dogs? I have searched the net, but in the past I've found that the ones that do the least advertising are usually the best.

I'm also a little worried about wildlife and my dogs....any suggestions or experiences? (We're not hunters and really have no experience with northern wildlife).

Can you take your dogs over the border? Any paperwork required? I've never been to Canada.

Thanks.

I can't answer all of your questions, as I live on the west coast of Canada, further than you will be traveling. However, I can answer a few specifically in regards to your dogs.

As far as taking them over the border, all you really need is proof of current rabies vaccination. I had certificates of health for my pets for awhile, crossing the border with them on a weekly basis, but was never asked for any more than the rabies certificate, and only that on occasion, but make sure you have it with you.

Also, be aware that when you re-enter the U.S., any dogfood, dogtreats, rawhide toys, etc that were purchased in Canada, or that you cannot PROVE was purchased in the U.S., will be confiscated at the U.S. Border coming back into the U.S. No such problems taking same INTO Canada.

As far as wildlife, that will depend somewhat on your dogs. Generally speaking, do not allow them out alone or loose after dark, keep them on a leash then for their own safety, in case you are in an area that has cougars or bears. Otherwise, if they are reasonably trained (will reply to voice commands) they should be fine in the daytime. You are the best judge of your own dogs personality and behaviour, so just use common sense.

(i.e. i had a deaf dog, so he had to be on leash 24/7; another dog was part greyhound so had to only be loose in wide open areas it was safe to run; an agressive dog will take more diligence as far as local wildlife, etc. etc.)

I continually %. a doggie first help equipment, some bottled water from homestead and a water dish (now and lower back water from distinctive areas isn't that stable), and, of direction, his nutrients. Collar, leash, make specific he's donning some type of everlasting I.D., and a few chew toys for the line. have relaxing. upload: @ Chix - merely FYI, Washington State is on the West Coast and borders Oregon to the south and Canada to the north ; Washington D.C. on the East Coast.

This happens to me all the time. You tried to post this and they took your five points but it never shows up as posted, Right? I get so mad when this happens. I thought the trolls had something to do with it. I only found it because I was looking for you on the board and wanted to see what questions you had asked. You know we have to encourage each other. Sorry
