I am trying to decide if it will be cheaper to fly or rent and drive

The bus idea could be a perfect solution. as I forgot about having accomidations along the way. I do have a lot of things to bring as it is a convention, but I will look into it. I will check out a train as well!
Thank You Abbie

You can, believe it or not, take a bus. A bit under three days, if memory serves.

Mapquest says it's 2912 miles, requiring about 43 hours of driving time, not including time to rest. 43 hours equals more than five days of driving 8 hours a day - even if you can cut it down to 4 days each way, that's still eight nights' worth of lodging, plus the gasoline for the trip. The gas both ways (presuming you want to return) is about $728 US (figuring 20 miles per gallon, $2.50 per gallon of gas); eight nights' lodging is probably going to be $800 US, minimum, so your cost to drive is at least $1500 - 1600 U.S., not including the price of the rental for the car. If you have only one or two people going, you can probably fly for a lot less; if you have several people going, then the drive is a bit cheaper, but lodging does increase for each person you take along. If it were me, I'd fly.
