I am going to a Canadian casino this weekend (live in U.S.). Am I better off getting Canadian dollars from our local U.S. bank before crossing the border or just doing it at the Canadian casino?

I'm an Aussie city girl who's moving to Alberta to be with her man. Pretty nervous about being away from friends and family. Has anyone else done the big move (to Alberta or Canada generally) for love? How hard was it? How did you adjust? And are there any Aussie expats in Alberta?!! Cheers, Rosie

I would like to take advantage of the Passport On-Line application. I understand you are given a unique code or serial number in order to expedite the service and bypass the line up.

But... I have already filled out the forms manually.

If I use the online application, can I still submit the forms that I have filled out manually with my guarantor signatures or does my guarantor have to fill out the printed on line form with the serial number attached?

Hope this doesn't sound confusing...

This may sound silly, but is there good basic shopping (ala Walmart) in Campbell River? I will be staying on Quadra Island for a week, but I come from an equally remote area and I need to do some basic shopping-socks, underwear, jeans, towels, etc. I know there is no Walmart, but are there any malls or similar? We have a car.

my buddy and i were going to go up to canada and visit, staying in Hamilton at a relative's house.

I keep getting mixed answers and we're going to end up calling borders anyway, but does anyone know what the deal is with passports?

we're going to drive there, if that makes any difference. some say you need one to fly, others say you always need one, yadda yadda yadda.

any idea? i live in pennsylvania.

I would like to visit Canada but am worried about the low standard of living there, as I hear it is not as good as the United States.

Is running water and electricity always on, or are there constant blackouts? And also, since liberalism is much more rampant in this, what are the chances of me being accosted?

Also, what if I get sick? Canada has socialized medicine and I have heard of people waiting for weeks in hospital emergency rooms just to get seen by a doctor.

Is there such a thing as shared national identity in Canada?

Some of the criteria: large-town setting, with outdoor activities year-round, a body of water, affordable (we are teachers), close to a city (within 2 hours drive), close to a college or university (so that there is culture, restaurants, educational-happenings, etc.)

Just wondering if it costs to get a guarantor to sign a canadian passport photo for me. Seems strange for someone needing to be paid so as to confirm your true identity...can be easily corrupted that way.

My daughter and her friends want to take a limo to Canada for her friend's 19th birthday. I was wondering if they needed any paperwork or anything to go. I've only been there once as a child, and I don't know if, in this post 9/11 world, the security has changed. Thanks!
