I am an Indian, now in USA on a pleasure trip. I am holding a B1-B2 visitors visa to the US. Can i now cross borders to Canada for a day without a valid Canadian visa through the US-Canada border??

Probably not. That would be at the discretion of the border guards, if indeed they have that much discretion, I don't know.

According to the Canada Immigration/Visa website, the exception for a country from which Canada requires a Visa to visit can do so without one is if you have Permanent Resident status in the U.S., which of course, you don't, you just have a visitor visa.

However, I would recommend that you contact Canada Customs and ask them, you have nothing to lose by doing so.
